This is my current camera mount. It's not the worst, but it's set back about 15 inches from the drivers eye and the headliner moves around causing vibration.
Below is an example video with my current camera position. The image is cropped/zoomed to only show out the windshield. The perspective makes it difficult to look into the turn, which would be helpful as a drivers-aid.
I plan to make a fixed, lightweight camera mount. The plan is to bond a backing plate to the chassis with tapped holes and attach a RAM Mount PVC extension. I’ll be able to position the camera high and in-line with the drivers eye. This is the best camera position in my opinion as a drivers-aid since it's exactly what you see.
The GoPro will attach to the extension with a ball mount. The other end will use the angle-adjustable base bolted to the baseplate.
